Review : models own nail polish

I love painting my nails like most of us do, I always love the look of glitter nail polish but hate the removal. Does anyone else dred taking off there glitter polish or is it just me? There must be an easier way. Anyway onto this nail polish that I got in my December birchbox. I got to choose the colour and I chose this one as I thought it would be perfect for Christmas and it looked pretty.

This is a models own nail polish in the colour sardonyx. This is basically red glitter that dries matt so it gets a velvet look to it, hence the velvet lid. I love the bottle on this, the velvet lid just makes it seem more special. The colour pay off is very good and I only needed to apply two layers to get the desired look, which usually is about 3 to 4 when dealing with glitter so this was great. When it dried it gave you that matt look, which was quite odd to look at as glitter should be sparkly. However it looked good and I was happy.

I painted my nails on Christmas Eve expecting them to last at least 4 days possibly longer, but before I had even gone to bed on Christmas Eve I found that I already had chipped nails. I had done everything I usually do to my nails to ensure long wear apart from doing a top coat as that would ruin the matt look, So I touched them back up gave them a third coat and put a top coat on. I wasn't bothered about not having the matt look, just as long as my nails looked good and glitter should look sparkly anyway.

The chipping however did not stop, this did not hold up well at all when opening christams presents and by the evening on christams day it was just peeling off. So I was not best pleased by this product. It's a great colour and has a nice looking bottle. But none of that matters when it doesn't even last a day on your nails without chipping. This costs £5 and in my personal opinion is way overpriced for a substandard nail polish. I have not had this problem before with models own as I do own a couple of there other nail polishes, it may just be this particular glitter velvet line.

Have you tried this nail polish? What where your thoughts?
