Blogmas Day 21 - My Christmas Eve + Day Routine

Every year I do the same few things on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, its become sort of a routine over the years. I thought I would let you into my little routine that I seem to follow and will most likely keep following for years to come....

Christmas Eve....

I've been quite lucky the past few years, I've been able to have Christmas Eve off work. Getting that day off means I can get so much more done. I tend to start my day with a workout and a good breakfast before deep cleaning the house top to bottom and putting fresh bedding on the beds. It's something my mum always did when I lived at home, the house was always extra sparkling clean on Christmas Eve and now my house doesn't seem right on Christmas Eve unless its absolutely spotless.

After cleaning the house from top to bottom, apart from the kitchen which I leave till last. I start my baking, which is why I leave cleaning the kitchen until last. I try and get most of my baking done in the week, so there is less to do in one day. But I always leave making my sausage rolls until Christmas Eve and assembling whatever dessert I'm making for Christmas day too. Once the baking is done, I clean the kitchen and that's all the cleaning chores done, which means its time to start pampering myself.

I always like to pamper myself a bit on Christmas Eve. After a long week at work, running around making sure everything is right and ensuring the house is perfect! I feel its only right that I take some time for myself. I'm going to use my two new favourite masks that I told you about in my pamper routine. I'm also going to be using these soap & glory puffy eye attack brightening patches too, they will refresh and revitalise my tired eyes.

Then I take some time to unwind in the bath with my favourite bath bomb Golden Wonder, I use this every Christmas Eve as it looks like a present. I usually light all my candles and set my Ipad up with Netflix while I have a proper chill out.

Once I'm out of the bath, its into some fresh new PJ's. I always have to have new PJ's on Christmas Eve, again it was something my mum did for us and I've just carried it on for me and Paul. I've also picked up these new fluffy socks that match my PJ's too. There both from Asda.

While I wait for the hubby to come home I take the time to paint my nails. I like to try and make them look all Christmassy! I usually go for some sort of red nail polish, which is exactly what I'm going for this year too. But I'm also adding a touch of gold sparkle. The nail polish I'm using is by Nails Inc, the red is called Chelsea Green and the gold glitter is called Belgrave Square.

When the hubby finally gets home from work I run him a bath and lay his fresh PJ's out for him, while I get a mini Christmas Eve buffet ready. We then settle down and watch a Christmas movie with a hot chocolate.

Christmas Day...

I'm always so excited for Christmas morning, I suppose I'm still like a kid! Once we wake up, which is usually around 7am. We go straight down stairs, put some Christmas music on and start opening our presents.

After we've opened and appreciated all that we received for Christmas, I start making breakfast. Paul always likes to have french toast on Christmas morning. So I make him that and I'll have either crumpets, Pan Au choc or I'll make pancakes.

When breakfast has been eaten and we've got ourselves ready, which always takes me so much longer on Christmas morning as I'm usually playing around with new beauty products. We then go out and visit Paul's sister and our nieces. We watch them opening their presents and have fun playing with them and their new toys.

Then we move onto my mums, where around 2pm we have our Christmas dinner. She does an amazing turkey dinner and I'm so looking forward to it this year! Then we spend the rest of the evening playing games, drinking and nibbling on more food!

Is there things that you do every year?
Have you fallen into a bit of a routine with you Christmas Eve and Day?
