I cant believe how quick blogmas has gone, we only have today and tomorrow and then that's it for another year! Today's post is all about my skincare empties and if you already read my previous empties posts this month, you will know that I've split them into three. Hair, beauty and skincare empties. Today's post if obviously all about my skincare empties. If you haven't already read the hair and beauty empty posts and would like to know my thoughts on them, then click here for hair and here for beauty.
I find I always finish skincare products a lot quicker than beauty and hair product. I suppose that's because I buy massive bottles of shampoo and conditioner, so they last me at least six months and hair oils just feel like there never ending, as you don't need to use much. I also suppose I use skincare products everyday, even if I'm not going anywhere. Whereas I don't always apply beauty products, if I'm going no where what's the point.
Do you find you finish skincare products quicker too?
Anyway I've got six empty skincare products below, most of them are miniatures that were from past beauty boxes.
First up we have Soap & Glory's What a peeling de-clog mask. This costs £4 and you get two mask pods, so it costs £2 a mask. My favourite masks are ones that de-clog the skin as one of my concerns is my pores. I especially love if de-clog masks are peeling ones, which this one is. I just feel a sort of satisfaction when you peel this off your skin and you can actually see what its pulled out! This mask is such a fun colour too, its bright pink! So don't get caught short having to answer the door with this on your face, you might give someone a fright. But its a fun mask to apply and one that you can see has done its job after you've used it. You do get plenty of mask in one pot. I applied what I needed to first time and thought I could save the rest to use another day. I could easily get two masks out of each pod. Unfortunately because these don't reseal, they end up drying out and setting like they would on your face. I didn't have a spare pot that I could have moved the mask into, to keep it fresh so I could use it again. The second pod I used on myself and a friend, which meant I didn't end up wasting half a pod. I did really enjoy using this mask though and for £2 a mask, I don't think that's bad value at all.
I would most definitely re-buy this face mask.
Next up is Aromatica Rose Absolute First Serum. This serum costs £27 for 130ml, its a toner meets serum sort of product. That helps to brighten and smooth skin, while also adding moisturiser to the skin. This serum is enriched with rose oil and organic herbal extracts, 96% of the formula is natural. I did really enjoy using this, it did help to brighten my skin and my skin was more hydrated. But I've since found a serum that I love even more than this by The Ordinary which costs a lot less.
So even though I enjoyed this serum and did see benefits from using this, I wont be re-buying this as I have found a better cheaper alternative.
Then I have a moisturiser by Caudalie, its their vinosource moisturising sorbet. This costs £23 for 40ml, which I don't think is too bad a price to be honest. This is a gel-cream formula that has immediate soothing properties and leaves the skin refreshed and feeling comfortable. Its a sensitive skin saviour with its blend of organic grape water to hydrate and chamomile to calm. This felt so strange to apply to my skin, but a great kind of strange. The moisturiser comes out like any other cream, but when you apply it to your face it feels like its melting into your skin. Which is why I guess they call it a sorbet, as like a sorbet would melt with heat, this melts into your skin with the warmth of your face and hands. This moisturiser has a cooling affect on your skin, which is why I enjoyed using this in the morning as it kind of wakes my skin up and leaves it feeling refreshed. My skin also felt and looked very hydrated after this.
This is a moisturiser that is on my list to buy once I've got through some of my other moisturisers first.
I have another product from Caudalie, but this time is their Premier Cru eye cream. An anti-ageing eye cream that leaves the under eye smooth and firm. Dark circles and puffiness are minimised and the eye area is left looking brighter. I enjoyed using this eye cream. It felt like a luxurious eye cream to use, the packaging looks gorgeous and the cream felt nice under my eyes. I wouldn't say this smoothed and firmed up my under eye. But it definitely made my under eye area look brighter. Which is always great. I think this is great for the day, as it brightens the under eye and is still an anti-ageing product. But for the evening I would use something a bit more heavy duty under the eyes, to try and keep the under eye area looking as amazing as it can. This eye cream costs £49 for 15ml. I think that is extremely pricey for what you get!
I wont be re-buying this eye cream, it was nice to use while I had it but I think there are much better alternatives out there and some are also cheaper.
Next up is a product from Polaar, its the Ice pure gentle scrub. This has an ingredient called Arctic cotton, which is supposedly a powerhouse ingredient that's knows for its moisturising and detoxifying properties. This also gently exfoliates the skin, so it should leave the skin soft and smooth. This was nice to use but I thought it was a bit too gentle, so gentle in fact that this didn't feel like it was doing anything.
This costs £23.50 for 75ml, but that wont be a price that I'll be paying to re-purchase this. I've used some cheaper and some more expensive scrubs and they've all done a better job than this one.
Lastly I have a moisturiser from Estee Lauder, the Nutritious micro-algae. Which is a pore minimising hydra lotion. Its crafted with cold-processed nutrient dense algae, which awakens a natural healthy looking glow. It helps hydrate, control oil and minimise pores for just £36. I was expecting this to have a higher price tag, especially for a 100ml bottle. I really liked this moisturiser, it was refreshing and it did help to keep shine at bay. I'm not sure if it minimised pores, if the sample has been a bit bigger I may have found this out.
I do really like this and I think this would be a perfect moisturiser for me in the summer, when my skin is overly oily. This is going on my to buy list.
