Mua

This month's Glossybox came with an MUA eyeshadow palette, that we got to choose a few months before. I received the one called glitter ball, which wasn't the one I chose but they are rectifying this in next months box. We got a choice out of four and this would have been right at the bottom of my list. That was down to the name of the palette, Glitter ball. I instantly assumed that this was going to be eye shadows with glitter in them and I hate having a glitter explosion on my face. the fallout from glitter shadows is just annoying. I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched the palette to find that most of them were shimmers. Vinyl and Jive are the only ones that aren't shimmers.

When I saw how bright and vivid the colours were in this palette I was like, oh jeez I'm never going to use this. But after swatching the shadows I fell in love with the colours, they were so pretty and I couldn't wait to get creative with my eye looks. There's only three out of twelve shades that I don't really like, the rest I love. The three shades I don't like so much are Vinyl, Jive and Disco. Disco is grey and this is a shade that I would have loved years ago, but at the moment I'm much more into browns over greys. Jive is very powdery and it takes a lot of the shadow to actually look like your wearing any of the colour. Vinyl looks just a bit too glittery for me, but I know it will still get used when I want to smoke things up a bit.

The colours in the palette look like there going to be pigmented, from swatching them they really are that pigmented apart from Jive, which is the only let down in the pigment department. They all feel buttery soft in the palette too, apart from Vinyl which has a slightly more chunky feel to it due to the glitter. They are pretty close to feeling just as smooth and buttery as the urban decay shadows. These are surprisingly long wearing. I actually forgot to put on my eyeshadow primer, by the time I realised, I already had a full face of makeup on.

On closer inspection I could see that some of these colours looked like some of the urban decay colours I own. I swatched the MUA palette against a few of my urban decay palettes and these were the dupe shades I found.

Vinyl - This is a matte black with chunks of silver glitter. A more glittery version of Oil slick. This can be found in the ammo palette, the new vice ltd reloaded palette and as a single.

Jive - The last of the matte colours, its a peach shade with fine silver glitter. If it was a shimmer it would be an exact dupe for Scandal. This was an exclusive shade to book of shadows 1.

Odyssey - A shimmery green shade with gold tones. An exact dupe of Homegrown, which was exclusive to book of shadows 2.

Freak - A bright shimmery blue. Similar to Jinx, its just slightly darker. This was an exclusive shade to the book of shadows 2.

Vibe - A green shimmer with blue tones. Very much like Flipside, Flipside is slightly more blue than vibe which has slightly more green. You may have seen this colour in the book of shadows 2 and you were also able to buy this as a single at one point.

Equinox- Very shimmery white. The same colour as polyester bride, but way less glitter and a ton more shimmer. You may have seen this in the ammo palette and you can still buy this as a single.

Fever - A bright shimmery pink. The perfect dupe for a shade out of Gwen Stefani's eye shadow palette, Harajuku.

Inferno - This is a shimmery bronze. An exact match for baked. This has appeared in the book of shadows 1 and you can still buy this as a single.

Remix - A shimmery purple with tones of grey. It's similar to mushroom but remix is slightly more purple than mushroom. This was an exclusive shade to book of shadows 2.

Hustle - Another shimmer, its burgundy with tones of purple to it. A darker version of roach. You could have found this in book of shadows 1 and you can still buy this shade as a single.

Disco - A light shimmery grey, with undertones of purple. This is the only colour I've not been able to match to an urban decay one, out of the colours I own. But I'm sure there is one out there.

Boogie - The last shade, again another shimmer. Its a light purple with tones of pink and silver in it. Similar to Grifter, its slightly more pinker than Grifter and grifter has glitter unlike boogie. This could have been found in the ammo palette and book of shadows 1.

This palette is only £4 for 12 shadows. I cant quite believe how good the shadows are considering the price of the palette. Obviously the packaging isn't great, its a standard plastic case with a clear lid. It does look quite cheap, but you can't have everything especially when it only costs £4. Savings need to be made somewhere. I'm really looking forward to trying more of the palettes by MUA.

What are your thoughts to the palette?
