UD Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow palette review

Gwen Stefani has always been an idol of mine since I was young and used to listen to her in the band no doubt. I read a magazine on her when I was in secondary school where she mentioned urban decay was her favourite for eyeshadows. It was down to her that my obsession started with urban decay as I fell in love with the amazingly pigmented shades. So when I saw that Gwen Stefani was doing a collaboration with urban decay I couldn’t help but get super excited. I left reminders all over for my husband and set alarms on my husbands phone for the release date as I wanted this palette so badly for christmas.

The packing of the palette is gold, white and black which is so Gwen's style. Its plastic but it’s a tough feeling plastic and it has a badge on the front that’s made to look like metal but again its plastic. It opens and closes easy on a magnet,  it opens on a hinge unlike some of there naked pallets. So I think it will be quite durable on the opening and closing front. When you open it the lid is a full size mirror and then you see the beautiful 15 shades encased in black.

Every eyeshadow feels super buttery like they always do, very pigmented, blend beautifully and last the day. I will go through all the shades with you so can see what each of the shades look like. All the the shades are named after things to do with gwen like where she grew up, songs that shes sang and her personality.

The first shade is a bit hard to see in the swatch due to my pale skin but you can just make out the slight highlighted area. This first shade is called blonde it’s a pale beige with a slight pink iridescent to it. This is a perfect highlighting shade or an all over base when going for an out there winged eye. The next shade is bathwater this is a pale beige with a gold hint to it and is one of my favourite shades. Then we have Skimp which is a pale nude, this is another perfect all over the eye shade. The fourth shade in this row is steady this is a medium rose gold colour, another of my favourites. I like to use it along side with the last shade in the row called punk, which is a reddish brown matte.

The second row of shades starts with baby which is a cooler metallic rose, another of my favourites… I do have a few of them it’s a pretty great palette. The second shade in the row is Anaheim a light brown taupe shade, another matte shade. Stark is a nude pink matte shade. Zone is a matte medium brown and the last shade in this row is serious. This is a smokey grey and another of my favourites it blends out really nicely.

The last row is the only row with some pretty out there shades as the rest are all pretty wearable. However once you see the swatches these are extremely wearable too. The first shade is pop this is a pale coral and is one of the few shades with glitter in it. The next shade looks scary its Harajuku but as you can see from the swatch it doesn’t look as garish and you can blend it out to a paler baby pink too. This shade is described as being metallic blue pink with micro shimmer. The next shade is probably one of the messiest in the palette it has quite a bit of fallout. Its called Danger and is a deep metallic royal blue and its another one of the few glitter shades. Then we have 1987 this is a beautiful metallic yellow gold and the last shade is blackout which is the blackest matte black.

All of the shades are so wearable. Its also the first palette with the more matte shades and satin shades than glitter shades. Which I think is amazing and probably one of the best palette that urban decay have brought out. The glitter shades are nice don’t get me wrong but they cause so much fall out. There satin and matte shades are definitely the best. I haven't stopped using this since I got it and can see this being one that I never get bored of.

Im really looking forward to the lipstick line being brought out, there was 4 shades that came with the palette to try out I will let you know my thoughts on these but if there anything like there normal lipsticks I know I will love them already. I believe there is also a blusher palette being released as part of this collaboration too.

What are your thoughts on this palette and are you looking forward to more lines being added to this collaboration?
