I got my hands on a sample of the new fresher skin foundation, by Rimmel. I applied on there website to receive a small 1.5ml sample. This size is big enough for two, possibly even three applications. This foundation claims to do quite a lot, its supposed to give a natural-looking coverage, while also protecting the skin with SPF15. It should have a lightweight texture, that's not supposed to clog the pores. Your make-up should look and feel freshly applied all day long, with a shine free finish. This foundation should also help to reduce the appearance of redness and even-out skin tone.
I really wanted to put this foundation to the test when I sampled it, to see if it would lived up to what it claims to do. I usually don't wear make-up when I'm going on a plane, which you may already know from last Mondays post. But to really test out what this foundation is supposed to deliver, I thought what the hell and applied a full face of make-up. This foundation had to with stand a train journey, waiting around in the airport, four hours on a late night flight, where I kept trying to fall asleep. Then finally a half hour coach journey, before getting to our room. I'd say I probably had this foundation on my face for around 14 hours. Which is way longer than I would like to wear any foundation!
When I applied this, I found it to be very cooling and fresh on the skin. I really quite liked this, as I felt that it woke my skin up. It was like I was splashing my face with some fresh water. This will be down to the texture of this foundation. It transforms while your blending it into your skin, from a water-gel to a even more refreshing cream. This didn't sit funny in any areas where I have slightly dryer patches and it also didn't attract attention to my more oily patches either. I found it very easy to build up the coverage to what I needed. My skin didn't feel weighed down or caked up in foundation. That's due to this foundation being lightweight, meaning skin can breath and pores don't get clogged up.
On this wonderfully long journey to our holiday destination, I had many bathroom trips. Where I always made sure I checked out my foundation. I was so surprised to see my skin still looking as though it had been freshly applied 10 minutes ago. I didn't have any shiny patches that needed powdering. Which will be down to the natural mineral powders, they have used in this product. These minerals help to absorb excess oil and should leave skin shine-free all day. When I got to the hotel room at 2am in the morning, I was shocked that I still had no shiny patches and that my skin still looked quite fresh.
I have to say, I was so surprised at how good my skin still looked, by the time I got to my hotel room. I expected to look in the mirror, look at myself and think wow you look like you need some sleep. Instead I looked at myself in the mirror and thought wow, my skin actually looks great. Throughout my whole journey I didn't feel like I had foundation on my face. My skin didn't feel clogged up with make-up. Not at any point did I think, I can't wait to clean my face and get this make-up off. Which, I usually would and do by the end of a normal day.
If you can't quite tell, I'm very excited about this foundation. I can't wait to go and buy the full sized one. The only downside I can see so far with this foundation, is that it comes in a jar. Like Maybelline's dream matte mousse foundation. I'm not a fan of jars. I do prefer a pump bottle, which I think most people do. But I'm not going to be put off by the packaging. I'm still going to purchase this and hope that the packaging works for this product.
If like me, your excited to try this foundation out. You can purchase this for £7.49, for 25ml of product. Also if you but it from boots, they have an offer on at the moment for 2 for £10 on selected Rimmel.
Have you tried this foundation? What were your thoughts?
