I'm not going to lie, I do prefer the warmer months over these colder ones. I just love to feel the warm sunshine on my skin. I hate being cold and I just so happen to be one of those people that feel the cold more than most. I know there is so much to look forward to in these colder months such as, Halloween, bonfire night, Christmas, hot chocolate and cosy evenings with the duvet. I need, what I call winter essentials, so that I can enjoy these colder months.
My number one essential is a warm coat. There are a few things I like to get out of a coat, to ensure its going to be cosy and long lasting.
- Hood - is ideal to have, as living in the UK there is a lot of rain.
- Faux fur - so its extra snugly and cosy.
- Quality - sometimes cheaper might seem ideal at the time but it may not be the best in the long run, as you can end up with quite thin material that doesn't really keep you warm or last. If you go for more expensive the material can be thicker, be more durable and last you a lot longer.
I've picked out a few of my favourites that I've seen so far, that I thought you might be interested in.
Cream faux fur coat from River Island £80.
This feels like such a great quality coat that would be perfect for keeping you warm. The colour may not be the most practical, but its a gorgeous coat that I've been eyeing up. The faux fur detail makes this so cosy. I like that there is a belt on this coat, perfect for showing that shape off. It doesn't have a hood, but that's were a hat would look amazing with this coat.
Khaki luxe parka jacket, Miss Selfridge £95.
I have actually purchased this quite recently, I didn't own a parka and really wanted one. I'm also really into khaki at the moment, which is a great autumn colour. It also seemed a more practical colour, so that it didn't show up too much dirt. This has an amazing faux fur hood, it makes me feel so snugly and warm. The quality of this coat is amazing, the lining inside is super soft and fluffy. Making me feel even more cosy and warm. The zip detailing add a great look to this coat and the fact that it has a drawstring waist was a big selling point for me. It means I can pull it in to show my waist off, I hate it when your coat makes you look like your wearing a sack. As you can tell I really liked this coat, hence why I bought it. Yes its expensive at £95, but I think the quality is worth it and I actually got £20 off mine in an online deal.
Black faux fur trim belted jacket, New Look £54.99
A bit of a more cheaper option. New Look actually have some really great coats, most of them are amazing quality and much more affordable. I picked something very similar to this up last year from New Look. It was black with a brown faux fur collar and didn't have the zip detailing. This I think is perfect for those days were you want to look a little bit more dressed up, rather than a casual parka coat. I still feel warm and cosy in this due to the faux fur collar and the quality of the material.
Jumpers are another winter essential. Personally I don't like spending too much on jumpers, as no matter how much I pay for them they still end up going bobbly and look tatty after two winters. I'm particularly in love with two jumpers at the moment. One is from River Island which you will have seen in a recent outfit of the day post. The other is another recent purchase from New look.
I love a good cable knit jumper and this one from River Island is so on trend, with the cold shoulder detail. I'm really loving high neck jumpers too, they make me feel extra cosy and warm. This is £36, its the highest amount I'm willing to pay for a jumper. I know that River island's knitwear is generally really good, it washes well and seems to last quite well.

I've worn both of these jumpers with my skinny black jeans and black boots.
Everyone needs a good comfy pair of winter boots. I know there's the over the knee boot trend at the minuet and I do want a pair of them too. But personally I don't think you can go wrong with a good pair of ankle boots. If your going to go for something suede looking, i would recommend faux suede. Otherwise you will find that you cant wear your real suede boots out in the rain and will be constantly worried your going to ruin them. Cue your cheap pair of, I don't care if they get ruined boots. New Look have some amazing boots at great prices. Suede effect, leather looking, studs, buckles, you name it they've got it.
Chelsea boots £19.99
Cross strap block heel £27.99
These are just a few pieces that I think are essential in making you feel cosy and warm throughout winter. Obviously hats, scarfs and gloves are a major part of this too. But you can pick these up cheap from New look, Primark and Asos.
I hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know if there is any pieces there that you love too.
Let me know what your winter essential item would be if you could only have one.
