Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Palette Review

This palette was an unexpected purchase that I will blame on a friend at work. I'm not saying it was a bad purchase, but it was something I didn't now I needed until I was shown it. I've had my eyes on the Urban decay Heat palette and was planning on either buying that or putting it on my Christmas wish list. I changed my mind when I saw my work friends eye-makeup looking even more on point than normal. I asked what she'd used on her eyes, the colours were amazing! She showed me that it was the Jaclyn Hill palette and that it had gone out of stock on the day of release. The palette looked so beautiful, there's no wonder it had gone out of stock so quick.

I've heard of Jaclyn Hill, but I didn't know who she was. I didn't realise she was a youtuber and I watch quite a few youtubers, but I don't tend to watch a lot of American youtubers any more. Anyway you could get your hands on this from Beauty Bay. I'm signed up to receive their emails, it was only two days after being shown this by my work friend that it came back in stock. I had the email telling me it had been re-stocked and to be quick! I did a quick bit of research on the palette, I actually went to Tati's (Glam Life Guru) channel because she's very honest with her reviews and she'd done one on this palette. After hearing Tati's review and really looking at the colours, I thought it would be a better purchase then the Urban Decay heat. Purely because there was some quite similar red colours in the Jaclyn Hill palette and there was also so many more colours to this palette too. I thought I would be able to create so many different looks from this one palette all year round. I also liked the mix of mattes and shimmers. So of course before the end of the evening I had ordered the palette and to my surprise I didn't have to wait long for it to arrive!

The palette is a light silver, its very slim and compact. Which means it will be perfect to take travelling with you. Inside you have 35 beautiful colours, with a mixture of finishes. On the inside of the lid there is a thank you message from Jaclyn Hill to all her subscribers. As much as I think this is a really nice touch, this palette to me is missing a main thing which could have been put in that space or on the back of the palette. The thing that's missing is the shade names. All the shades have names but they are not printed on the palette, you can download them from the website so you know what they are. But that's annoying and that's why I think the back of this palette which is quite blank or the bit where Jaclyn's put the nice message should have the shade names. It seems that a lot of people have been annoyed by this and Morphe seemed to have listened. I don't know if its available in the UK yet, but on the Morphe website you can now by the palette which has had a makeover and now includes the shade names printed on the palette.

Now lets have a look at the beautiful shades and what there names are.

I've found all the shades to be highly pigmented, they blend really well and they have great staying power. I've really enjoyed playing around with the shades in this palette. I've not quite used them all yet, but there is quite a few to get through. I love the shade selection but out of the ones I've used so far these are my favourite's, sissy, hunts, firework, jacz, cranapple and 24/7. After swatching them all these are some of the shades I cant wait to use in future looks, little lady, queen, Hillster, twerk, Jada, Dive and Enchanted. Like I said I love the shade selection just from looking at them, but after swatching them all and seeing what they really look like its made me love certain shades even more.Especially those green shades!

All in all I think this is great palette to add to anyone's collection. For £37 you get 35 eye shadows which I think is great value, especially with them having great pigmentation. I only have two little niggles with this palette, one you already know is the names of the shadows missing from the palette itself. The second niggle is that I think the palette is missing a more matte cream shade. The two cream shades that you could use to just buff and blend out the edges are very shimmery and to be honest are more like a highlight, you could easily get away with using them on your cheek bones. Yes I like to highlight my brow bone and inner corner so of course these shades are great for that. But I do find myself dipping into another palette to get that less shimmery, more matte cream shade to just buff everything out.

Which of these shades do you like the look of?
