Hen Party Ideas

Organising a hen party can be stressful, but its well worth it in the end. Hen parties are a great way to let off steam before the wedding, its a great opportunity to get all your girlie friends together, especially if you don't get to see them that often and its generally just some good fun. But getting to the fun part can be stressful if your not organised. You need to sort the basics out first, i.e where your going to have it, who's coming and are you going to do any activities such as cocktail making classes, pampering or a life drawing class. You also need to come up with some games, as no hen party is complete without a few drinking games. Whether your having it at home, in the UK or abroad some decorations always go down well, It sets the night up better, makes the bride to be feel a bit more special and looks great in photos. Lastly is the Hen party bags, these bags are a way of thanking all the ladies that made it to the hen party. But knowing what to put in these bags can be tricky, especially if you don't want to spend a ridiculous amount. If your a bridesmaid that's been giving the task of organising the hen party or a bride to be that's decided to organise their own then keep reading and I'll share with you, game ideas, decoration ideas and things that you can put in the hen bags.

Hen Party Game Ideas

Mr + Mrs Quiz

No hen party would be complete without a few party games and one that has to be played is the Mr and Mrs quiz. You can make the questions up yourself or download one of the many free Mr and Mrs quiz's available online. I myself downloaded a few of them and took what I thought to be the best questions off the online ones to make one quiz up. Once you have all your questions get the Husband to be to answer these without the Bride to be knowing. The earlier you can do it the better as it means even if he does leak any information to the future Bride, she will have forgotten by the time the hen party gets here. To get the whole group involved I got them to guess how many questions they thought the Bride to be would get right.
You can easily turn this into a drinking game by making the group take sip's of their drink evey time the Bride to be gets a question right and making the bride to be either do sip's or if your mean like me, do shots every time she got a question wrong.

What Am i?

This game is an innuendo riddle game. You can find some riddles yourself or you can buy these cards that already have some great riddles on from eBay. These riddles sound very rude, but the answers are actually very innocent. Its hilarious to see how dirty some peoples minds are and what answers they actually come up with. An example of one of the riddles is.....
When I go in I might cause pain. I cause you to spit and ask you not to swallow. I can fill your hole. What am I? .... A dentist of course!!
To play this get some answer sheets ready and either split the Hens into teams or get them to answer on their own. Read the riddles out and then at the end see which team or who gets the most answers right.

Pin the Willy

Instead of the old favourite child friendly pin the tail on the donkey, were going to play pin the willy. You can either find a picture of the Bride to Be's favourite celeb like I did, we called the game pin the willy on Tom Hardy or you can opt for this already done game from eBay called pin the junk on the hunk, it comes with hilarious willy stickers and isn't overly expensive.

Pass the Parcel

Pass the Parcel is another favourite from the childhood birthday parities that can have a fun adult twist. Start by buying something novelty or rude as the main prize, which you can either rig with the music to land on the Bride to Be or just let it land with whoever. Then buy little things to go in between the many layers of wrapping paper i.e, condoms, lube, love heart sweets, nail varnish, or even forfeit cards

How Well Do You Know The Bride?

This is another classic hen party game that's always fun to include. Again there are lots of these free to download online. Just make sure you print enough out for everyone including the Bride to Be. While everyone is writing down their answers the Bride to Be can be on her own filling in the correct answers. To make it a bit more fun, I made the bride to be pick one question that if anyone got wrong had to do a shot.

Wedding Dress

This game always goes down well and its really fun to see how creative people can actually be with toilet roll! So for this game split your hens into teams. Pick someone from each team to be the bride, of course the bride to be needs to be one of them. Give them plenty of toilet roll, the cheaper the better as its more fun when it breaks and make sure the teams are away from each other so they cant cheat and copy. At our hen party I gave them two songs worth of time to complete the dress or if they thought they were done before that, I told them to shout 'here comes the bride'.

Hen Do Taboo

A simple game to play throughout the whole night. Think of a few words to make taboo and if anyone says these words you can get them to take two sips of their drink or a shot. Depending on how messy you want things to get. An example of some taboo words are wedding, the Grooms name, Hen and Bride.

Trunk Of Drunk

This is a fantastic group drinking game, that has 8 games in one. I've done a whole blog post dedicated to this game, so if you want to find out more about it then click here. Its an especially perfect game to bring to a hen party if your not one for being organised, as its only one game that you have to remember, but its got 8 games inside which will keep all the hens entertained all night long.

Prizes

Your going to need some prizes for these games and shots for the losers. If you need any ideas for prizes, then check out Ann summers they have some novelty edible sweets or you could put together a few pamper packs.

Hen Party Decorations

Hen parties used to be very tacky events but most Bride to Be's don't want the tat anymore, they want instagramable decorations. The best hen party decorations I found were by GingerRay you can find some of their decorations on Asos, New Look and sometimes you can get lucky in TKmaxx too. But of course you can find the best selection on their own website. I didn't let the bride to be get away completely with all beautiful decoration. I did put one bit of tat on the wall, however it was still went with the theme and didn't look out of place on the wall. I found this banner on Ebay saying 'same penis forever', everyone loved it and was asking where I found it.

Hen Party Bags

This is the perfect way to thank the Hens for coming and the best way to hand out all the hen party accessories. Here's what we included in ours....

  • Bride tribe glasses
  • Team bride tattoo
  • Team bride hair tie/bracelet
  • Hen party sash
  • Willy straw
  • Shot tube
  • Face wipes
  • Face Mask
  • Nail File
  • Lipstick
  • Hangover kit - Bottle of water, Berrocca, Paracetamol, Mint and a mini chocolate bar for a sugar fix
  • Bride to be treat bag - two home made short bread willies.
Most of these things can be easily found on eBay and the beauty items can be picked up cheaply from Primark, but here's where we found the items. The bride tribe glasses were picked up from The range. The team bride tattoo and hair tie were from eBay. The hen party sash and willy straws were from Ann Summers. The Shot tube's were from B&M. The face wipes and all the items from the hangover kit were from a local supermarket. Nail files and lipstick from Primark and lastly the Bride to be treat bags I found in TKmaxx.

I also made sure I put together a separate bag for the Bride to Be that she didn't know about. Included in this was...

  • Bride to Be tote bag
  • Bride to be Pj's
  • Bride head band
  • Bride to Be veil
  • Bride to Be sash
  • Bride to Be hair tie
  • Bride tribe glasses
  • Bride tattoo
  • Willy straw
  • Inflatable willy
  • Nail file
  • Face mask
  • Hangover kit
The tote bag, head band, veil, hair tie and tattoo were all found on eBay. The Pj's and nail file are from Primark. The glasses from The Range, Willy straw and Sash from Ann Summers. The Inflatable willy was from Pound world, the mask from Asos and the hangover kit was all items from the supermarket.

  1. I liked the idea of making a separate bag for bride to be and including it with good amount of Hens party supplies.
