After spending all that time applying my eyeshadow perfectly I want to make sure it stays on my eyelids and not end up into the crease of my eye. Enter the wonderful must have eyeshadow primers. I have combination skin and my eyelids do get quite oily so a primer is a must for me. I have tried 3 of the most talked about eyeshadow primers and this is what I thought about them, hopefully this will help you in choosing the right primer for you.
Too faced shadow insurance
Performance: The primer is creamy in consistancy and a neutral colour perfect for any eyelid. It blends into the eye lovely and does not drag on the eye. After being blended the product feels quite tacky. This gives you the hope that eyeshadow will stick to the primer and stay all day. My eyeshadow usually stays on my eyelids without primer for about 4 hours by the 5th hour my eyeshadow has disappeard into the crease of my eye. When I use this primer my eyeshadow is still on by the 5th hour but by the 6th it has disappeard into the crease of my eye. So I only get one more hour of use from this product. So I find for me this product isn't the best, I think this product is more suited to someone who does not suffer with overly oily eye lids.
Packaging: a light blue tube, perfect for squeezing all the product out.
Price: £17.00 for 11g from boots. It's a bit pricey for only an hour longer wear out of your eyeshadow.

Benefit stay don't stray
Performance: This comes in skin toned colour light/medium and medium/dark. Its not just an eye primer it's also a concealer primer. I think it's lovely to apply under the eye as it seems to colour correct your under eye ready for your concealer. It's foundation like in consistancy, so does take a little bit longer to blend in. After 6 hours the eye shadow was still in place but was showing signs that it would start to crease soon, By the 8th hour the eyeshadow had creased so I got 4 more hours wear from my eyeshadow and 3 more than what the too faced primer gave me.
Packaging: A pump bottle with a peach bottle and black lid, quite understated for a benefit product. Easy to use and get the right amount of product out.
Price: £20.50 for 10ml very pricey but works a lot better than the too faced primer.

Urban decay eyeshadow potion
Performance: this primer is nude in colour perfect for any skin tone. It's creamy and is lovely to apply. Blends in very quickly and leaves skin feeling silky. After 6 hours the eyeshadow is still perfect. By the 8th hour the eyeshadow still looks as good when first applied. After 14 hours of the primer being applied it had finally started to show signs of wear and my eyeliner had started to smudge. I got 10 more hours wear out of my eyeshadow, 9 more than too faced primer and 6 hours more than the benefit stay don't stray. This is the primer I go back to time after time, as it keeps eyeshadow looking fab after a long time even for someone like me that has oily eyelids.
Packaging: Pictured is a sample size but the full size product is in a purple tube with a silver squeezy nib. Great for getting all the product out.
Price £16.00 for 11ml from lookfantastic.com defiantly worth the price in my opinion, much cheaper than the others and performs much better.
