What I packed for my Holiday - Makeup bag edition

Me and Paul have just got back from a weeks holiday in Greece, this holiday was all about taking some time to just relax. It was something we both needed, to just recharge our batteries. Before you get to relax though you have different types of stress to deal with, Packing cases, making sure you have the correct documents and making sure you get to the airport in plenty of time.

I personally find that packing can be such a stressful thing to do, especially when you've got to think about packing other peoples bags too. Luckily I still only have myself to think, as Paul packs his own case. It doesn’t mean I find this any less stressful though. I always worry that I'll end up forgetting something, like most people do I suppose. I don't know if its just a female thing to do, to worry about packing. As Paul just seems to throw anything in his case he likes the look of and deals with it when he gets on holiday. I on the other hand really like to plan what I'm taking with me. I find if I plan what I take, it takes some of the stress away, it allows me to not overpack and only bring the things I'm going to use.

The one thing I don’t seem to plan though is my make-up bag. I just seem to throw things in my make-up bag the morning we go. So I thought I would show you, what goes into my overflowing make-up bag. The make-up bag I use for travelling is this one I got from TkMaxx a while ago. Its massive, so it fits quite a lot into it. It's white and brown, with LOVE displayed on the front.

First up I'll go through the skincare items that I took with me and why I've brought them with me.
  • Benefit dream screen - Facial sun cream that has SPF 45
  • Simple eye make-up remover - Morning eye make-up remover
  • Simple soothing toner - Morning/Evening toner
  • Benefit Puff off (mini) - Brightening and de-puffing eye cream
  • Simple light moisturiser - Morning/Evening moisturiser that also has SPF 15
  • Benefit they're real remover (mini)  - Evening eye make-up remover, perfect for removing stubborn eye make-up.
  • Hawaiian tropic lip balm - keep lips hydrated and protected with SPF45

Now it's onto the hefty amount of make-up

  • Benefit porefessional (mini) - Face primer to keep foundation in place.
  • Urban decay, Naked skin - This is almost like a BB cream style foundation, its more lightweight for when my skin needs it. The shade I have is light.
  • Bourjois healthy mix foundation - A medium foundation that's in a darker shade for my tanned skin. This is in the shade light beige (53)
  • Maybelline fit me concealer - Under eye concealer, in the shade 10.
  • Benefit, Boi-ing - Concealer for redness. The shade I have is 01.
  • Benefit Porefessional pro powder - Setting powder, to keep the shine away.
  • Urban decay primer portion - Eye shadow primer, so that my shadows don't crease.
  • Mua glitter-ball palette - Lots of bright colours, for vibrant looks.
  • Mua heaven and earth Palette - Neutral colours for quick any easy smokey looks.
  • Soap and Glory, smoulder Kohl - Black waterproof eyeliner, for the waterline.
  • Kat Von D, tattoo liner - In the shade trooper. Its a pen liner that is waterproof and longlasting.
  • Benefit, Hoola - Soft bronzing powder, to make you look even more tanned.
  • Benefit, Rockateur - Golden rose blusher.
  • Benefit, watts up (mini)- Golden highlighter.
  • Benefit, Kabrow - Brow gel, its waterproof and easy to apply
  • Urban decay subversion - lash primer, to keep my lashes looking long and stong.
  • Too faced, better than sex  - Black mascara, that delivers amazing volume and lenght.
  • Urban decay lip gloss (mini) - In the shade Scandal, long lasting and creamy.
  • No7 Lip liner - In the shade nude, this is the first part of my fave lip combo.
  • Urban decay lipstick (mini) - This shade is called Liar, it’s a nude. Its creamy and longlasting. Its also the second part to my fave lip combo.
  • Urban Decay all nighter (travel size) - setting spray, to keep my makeup there all night

As you can see I brought quite a bit and made sure I had every shade I would possilbly need in eye shadows. I didnt want to bring my Urban decay palettes for fear of them breaking in the travel procoess. As we all know how our suitcases get looked after at the airport. I picked the MUA palettes because if they didnt break it wouldnt be the end of the world as there only £4 for a palette. I can always repurchase they if they break, there also very compact and come in a variety of colours. So they were perfect choices for me to take. I tend to take my favourite products with me when I travel. I want my make-up to look on point every day, so in my eyes that needs my favourite beauty products. But where possible I will always bring a miniture or travel sized version if I have one.

One tip I will give for when your packing your make-up bag, is to pack it as you apply your make-up. So apply a full face of make-up and just add it to your bag as you use the products. This way, you wont forget any of the products you use daily and could easily forget about. Once I've done this, I like to just have a quick scan through my make-up collection to see if I have any travel or mini versions that I can bring instead. At this point I also add any extra products I think I may need, like making sure I have all the eyeshadow colours i would need or lip colours I would need to go with my outfits.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the bag full of make-up I took with me on holiday. Look out for Fridays post, where I will share my holiday outfits with you.
