Blogmas day 15 - Morning Skincare

You may remember me saying, that I'm very religious with my morning skincare routine. Without fail, I will always apply my lotions and potions in the morning. It helps me wake up, and makes my skin feel so fresh and clean. The morning, is the one time of the day that I feel, I have more time to spend doing my skincare routine, make-up and hair. Usually my skin is looking very dry by now. I don't know if it's to do with the mild winter we've been having, or if its down to the skincare I've been using. I would like to think its down to the products, as although its not been as cold out. The heating does seem to have been on the same amount as usual. So my skin has still been exposed to elements that would normally dry it out.

The first step in my morning routine is to cleanse and tone my face. I use Sample's kind to eyes, eye make-up remover. This has two essential vitamins, pro-vitamin B5 and Vitamin E. It's a non oily remover and has no harsh chemicals, so its perfect for sensitive skin. This helps remove anything I may have missed and left behind the night before. Its cooling and refreshing, so it wakes my eyes up and helps de-puff them.

Next I use another product by Simple. It's their Kind to skin soothing facial toner. This has two vitamins, pro-vitamin B5 and B3. It's an alcohol free formula, which means it doesn't dry out your skin. Lastly it has three skin loving ingredients. These are chamomile, witch hazel, and allantoin. They all help to sooth, tone and tighten pores and balance your skins pH levels. This toner is refreshing, soothing and prepares the skin for serums and moisturisers.

The only part of my routine that changes, depending on what my skin looks like in the morning. Is the serum. I have two that I'm switching between, at the moment. Both funnily enough came from past beauty boxes, one from Glossybox and the other from Birchbox. The one I'm using more regularly, is by Darphin and came out of my Birchbox. This is an illuminationg oil serum. This serum delivers hydration and boots lack-lustre skin, to leave it soft, revitalised and restore luminosity. It helps perk my skin up on those days, were I feel my skin looks a little dull.

The other serum I use on occasions is the Body Shop's, Oils of life. This came out of my Glossybox and I tend to reach for this more, when my skin is looking a little on the dry side. This is a facial oil, which has three seed oils, that are known for their revitalising and repairing skin properties. This oil is lightweight and quickly absorbs into the skin. The oil was created to intensely revitalise skin, instantly replenishing moisture and reviving radiance.

My eye cream is by First Aid Beauty, its their eye duty triple remedy cream. Excuse the disgusting lid, this is a well used and well loved product. This instantly brightens the eye area, with a soft universal tint and light reflecting pigments. This makes your eyes appear, smooth and more awake. The unique stainless steel applicator, mimics the pinkie. Which flawlessly blends the product into the skin, without being rough on the eye area. The metal tip also stays quite cold, so it has a cooling effect on the eye, which helps to de-puff the under eye. This eye cream is also packed with a host of age defying ingredients. That support collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I use the same brand of moisturiser, that I use for the evening too. It's called Polaar, the genuine Lapland cream. This is formulated not just to be used on the face, but also on the body and even for sensitive skin. It has a unique mix of three berries, Arctic raspberries, Cloudberries and Ligonberries. Which are all loved for their antioxidant properties. They are also rich in vitamins A, C and E.  This wondrous moisturiser also leaves a protective layer of hydration, all of this combined helps to pamper dry skin.

Lastly is my lip balm. Its the one I've been banging on about, in the last few posts. Its the organic pharmacy's, antioxidant lip balm. Yes, I've mentioned this a few times already. But this really is one of the best lip balms I've come across. For me that's a big thing, as I can suffer badly with dry lips. This rich nourishing balm is infused with Shea butter, pomegranate, rose hip and vitamin E. Which all work together to protect and restore lips.

I do tend to keep my skincare routine the same. My motto is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. But I have learnt over the years that I have to change a few things. Like my moisturisers and serums. I need a more nourishing products for the winter to keep the dry skin at bay.  And in the summer I need products that are lighter, and that can help keep the oiliness at bay.

Do you keep your skincare routine the same, or do you like to change it up regularly?
