Blogmas Day 17 - Hair Care

I got my hair done yesterday. It was nothing major, only a trim to tidy the ends up before Christmas. But it got me thinking about my hair care routine, and how its changed over the years. It changed massively when I went from Blonde to Brunette. Products that I was using on my hair when I was Blonde, were just not working for my, more natural Brunette hair. They ended up drying my hair out, which stressed me out. As my hair had always been so glossy and healthy looking when it was Blonde, which usually isn't the case. So I got my hair dresser to recommend a few products to me, to basically sort my hair out and bring back the healthy, glossy look I had. Over the years I've picked up a few products from the brand my hair dresser recommends, but I've also picked up a few products myself. That I've ended up trying out from beauty boxes and falling in love with.

My hair routine, obviously starts in the shower. I use my shampoo and conditioner from Paul Mitchell, this is the brand my hairdresser swears by. The shampoo is the original Awapuhi one and the conditioner I use is called the detangler. The shampoo is rich, deep cleansing and moisturising. Its designed to leave hair clean and fresh, whilst eliminating build-up and preventing moisture loss. This shampoo leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean, but still shiny and healthy looking. The conditioner not only helps to de-tangle hair, but it also leaves it smooth, soft and protects it from UV rays. My hair always feels super soft after using this conditioner. With having long hair that gets very knotty, this conditioner really does help to de-tangle it, so the brush goes through quicker and smoother.

I use another product once I'm out the shower to also help with the de-tangling process. This product is called Parlor, detangling leave in conditioner. Which is by Jeff Christian. This spray combines de-tangling power, with heat protection. The sweet almond extract leaves hair soft, sleek and adds volume without adding weight to the hair. Vitamin B5 also keep the scalp feeling healthy. Not only does this product do amazing things for the hair and scalp, but it also smells amazing too.

Before brushing through my wet hair, I use another product by Paul Mitchell. Its called the super skinny serum. This serum smooths and conditions unruly locks. Its lightweight and helps to smooth and seal hair, leaving it feeling soft to the touch and shiny. This serum also helps to speed up the drying time, which is a major bonus for the amount of hair I have.

Once both of these products have been applied through my hair, I then use my tangle teezer, to work the knots out of my hair. The tangle teezer I have is designed for thick and curly hair. My hair isn't curly, but its thick and wavy. So it does get really tangled and the original tangle teezer, just wasn't cutting the mustard. So I bought one of these, which made life so much easier. I no longer had to separate my hair into two, to brush it. I could just tame the hair, by brushing it normally.

When my hair is finally dry, I use a couple of products to help with the styling of my hair. The first product is by Vo5, is their tame and shine spray. I've gone through so many bottles of this, it is my holy grail heat protection spray. So I use this, If I'm straightening or curling my hair. I like this heat protection spray, because its not overly wet. Its more like a dry spray. Not only does this protect from the heat, it also adds shine and helps to tame the frizz.

The last product I use is an oil. I use this after I've heat styled my hair. I'm not overly bothered what oil I use. I use whatever I have in my draw at the time. I get lots of hair oil samples in my beauty box's. Hair oil isn't a product I use up quickly, so I'm just trying to get through the mountain of miniature oils I have. The hair oil I'm using is by number 4, its their fluoro5 elixir restore and repair oil. This strand saving elixir gives drab, dull hair a movie star shine. I apply this to the ends of my hair after styling, to give a bit of moisture back into the ends, and to add a bit more shine to my hair.

Have you found the perfect shampoo and conditioner, for your hair? What brand do you use?
