I don't seem to find the time any more, to sit down and paint my nails. However, I need to find the time, this month. As there is a couple of occasions I want my nails to look pretty for. Those are my works Christmas meal and Christmas day. I'm not entirely sure what colour I will be doing my nails for these occasions. But I'm going to show you five nail polishes, that are my all time favourite colours, for this time of the year. More than likely, one of these colours will be chosen, if not two to paint my nails this month.
All of these colours are very dark and vampy looking. But winter wouldn't be the same without vampy coloured nails. A few of them are similar in colour, but they are still so different from each other.
Firstly I have a nice dark grey shade. This is from new looks beauty range. I picked this up just before they relaunched their beauty section, so I actually got this cheaper than what it should have been. This is a long wear gel polish, giving it a high shine finish. It needs two coats and lasts up to seven days, which is pretty decent for a fashion beauty brand.
Next up is OPI nail lacquer, in the shade a grape affair. This is a deep aubergine purple. It needs two coats and it lasts around 5-7 days on my nails. It's the only OPI nail polish I own, I got it in a birchbox. I like it, but I don't think the price is justified by the product. I have plenty of cheaper nail polish, that lasts just as long, if not longer than this brand.
Then I have my Ted Baker nail polish, these don't have shade names on them. I got this in a set, quite a few Christmas's ago. I got four in the set, navy, red, nude and this one, which is burgundy. I could have picked all the Ted Baker ones to be in this post, as all the colours really are very pretty and perfect for winter. But I didn't want it to turn into the Ted Baker show. So I picked my favourite colour, from the four. This definitely needs two coats, sometimes even three. But it applies really evenly to my nails and hasn't gone thick or gloopy, in the six or seven years I've had these. It lasts around 5-7 days on the nails. so its quite average in wear time.
This one is most likely going to be my Christmas day colour. The colour is red of course! I know its a cliche to have your nails red for Christmas, but I don't care! Red is my favourite colour and it makes me feel even more festive. This shade of red, is by Rimmel. Its called rapid rub, which fits perfectly, as I would describe this colour as a deep ruby red. Rimmel nail polish are some of my favourite, they are cheap but are a great quality nail polish. This has the express brush applicator, so your able to cover your whole nail, in nearly one stroke. I've had this nail polish for quite some time too, and it still hasn't gone thick. It still applies really nice and smooth to the nails. This only needs one coat and lasts 5-7 days on my nails.
Lastly I have another one that could be a contender for Christmas day. This is by Models Own and is called sardonyx. To be quite honest, models own are not my favourite nail polish brand. Due to the length of wear you get from the nail polish. But I received this in a past birchbox and really liked it because, of the very festive colour. This is a very true Christmas red and its also glitzy. Usually, glittery nail polish is very hard wearing, but this one doesn't last that long. It needs two coats and lasts around 4-5 days before chipping. Its the least hard wearing out of my top five, but it made the top five, because of how festive looking it is.
What's your favourite nail polish brand?
