There seems to be monthly subscription boxes for everything now. You can get beauty, home, geek and now, date night subscription boxes. I enjoy my beauty boxes, so I thought why not try a date night box, it could be fun. I think date nights are important in any relationship, it gives you the chance to take some time out to be with each other and reconnect. Even if you think you spend enough time with each other, its important to turn off social media, listen to each other and have some fun.
Me and Paul have plenty of date nights, we either go out for a nice meal or stay in, watch a film and just get cosy. I decided to order one of the date night boxes, I thought it would be fun and something different for us to do. There is actually, quite a few date night boxes available, but I got mine from getdatenight.co.uk. Like any subscription box, you sign up to a monthly subscription. But you can easily cancel at any time, if the box isn't quite what you'd hoped it would be.
This box, promises a surprise date in the post every month, tailored to you for £39.95 a month. This date night box is aimed at getting you out of your daily routines, so you can focus on each other as a couple. It's designed to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, where you can have fun, experience new things together and create memories, that you wont forget. It couldn't be any easier to sign up to this box too. All you have is go to get date nights website, click the sign up button, answer a few questions about you and your partner. Then each month, wait for your box to arrive and set some time aside,so you can enjoy your fun date night.
I couldn't wait for mine and Paul's first date night box to arrive. I also couldn't believe how big the box was when it arrived on my doorstep. I was expecting something smaller, so I was pleasantly surprised and hopeful of a jam packed box. The box itself is sleek looking. It's all black, with the company's logo and date night printed on the top in red. This box is definitely something you can keep, to either store memories of your date nights or give the gift of a date night to your friends. Inside the box all the contents where very well packaged, nothing was breaking in this box.
The box we received, was the chocolate heaven box. It was personalised to us, with our names printed in black on white card. The box, (as you will be able to see from the picture below) was packed full of chocolate goodies. Inside I found, two hot chocolate stirrers, white chocolate buttons, a box of chocolate discs, a box of foiled covered chocolates, chopsticks and a bottle of bubbly.
Behind the card with our names on it, was other cards. These had instructions on for games to play and questions to ask. There was three games and a set of questions.
The first game involved using the chocolate discs. You had to get the disc from your forehead, to your mouth without using your hands. This was hilariously funny, we couldn't stop laughing at each other. Paul was much better at this than I was.
The second game, was to use the chopsticks and the white chocolate buttons. You were warned not to eat too many of these, as they would be used later on. You had to use the chopsticks to pick up the buttons. Once you were both armed with the chopstick, the winner would be the first to get twenty white chocolate buttons in their dish. I'm quite a dab hand with chopsticks, so I did beat Paul at this one.
The third and last game, involved the foil covered chocolates and the chocolate score card. You had to have, one of each coloured foil covered chocolates. Then you had to taste each one, give it a score and write what flavour you thought it was. The answers would be revealed at the end, from a secret black envelope. I wont spoil it and tell you what each one of them was, but I can tell you it was very enjoyable and it was crazy to see how close, or far away we were from the correct answer.
For the question part, you had to melt the white chocolate buttons and dip your champagne glass in the melted chocolate. Then you had to fill it with the champagne. While you enjoyed, licking the chocolate off the glass and sipping the champagne. You asked each other the provided questions. I thought these were a really cool idea, me and Paul got to find out, just how similar we are, with what answers we gave too.
This was such a fun and great way to enjoy a date night. I would recommend this date night box to anyone that's in a relationship, its a great way to spice up date nights, that have got a bit repetitive. After writing this post and remembering just how much we enjoyed it, I now cant wait to find out what lands on my doorstep this month, for our next date night.
What's your ideal date night?
